Welcome to the Free Agency Bidding Process for Dynasty Baseball!

Here is how it works!

To place a bid...

1. Search for the thread using the search button at the top. Using first and/or  last name, or position.

2. If none is found, then create a new thread, title it with the players first and last name, and the position. "SP Nick Adenhart" "OF Octavio Coley"

3. In your bid, please add what team you are, and the details of the contract. Both years, and amount. Mentioning the total of the contract as well.

EXAMPLE

The Oakland Athletics offer SP Bob Ross a 4 Year, 15M dollar contract. 60M total.

That will be translated as a 4 year contract, making 15M per season. A 60M total value.

4. If you are not the starting bidder, then you will have to top the previous contract. This is done by offering more years and/or salary, or otherwise topping the total value of the previous contract. OR...matching the total of the previous contract, but over fewer years.(equaling a higher annual value)

EXAMPLE

The San Diego Padres offer a 2 year, 20M dollar contract. 40M total. This offer WOULD NOT be valid as the leading bid, as you offered less total value.

The San Diego Padres offer a 4 year, 17M dollar contract. 68M total. This offer WOULD be valid as the leading bid, as you increased the total value of the contract.

The San Diego Padres offer a 3 year, 20M dollar contract. 60M total. This offer WOULD be valid as the leading bid, you matched the total of the contract, but over one less year on the deal.

5. After any bid, there is 24 hours from the time where the bid is made, for another team to top it. You will be able to easily tell, after replying, if you see a warning in red labeling the thread as "old" then more than 24 hours have passed. After 24 hours passes without an offer, the player will sign the current top offer, and he is officially off the market. The commissioners will finalize it by locking the thread as soon as possible.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. No duplicate threads. Please be very careful with duplicate threads. This is why I suggest to search for it first, before creating. Only one thread should be created per player. When we find duplicates, we usually lock them and inform them. However, disclaimer, just in case the commissioners miss it, only the original thread will be honored. Even if the duplicate received more attention and the player is being offered 30M per year.

2. No yearly raises in your contract offers. Just offer a flat rate.

3. The player must reasonably be able to live out the contract. Someone who is 37, will retire after one more season. If I was to offer a 10 year contract to them, it would just make it confusing. The commissioner's will try to monitor this, but in extreme cases, disclaimer, the value of the money for the remainder of the contract will be transferred to another player's contract. The team will still have to pay that money.

4. Your offer must have a minimum 5M per year bid. Why? In the past, teams would load up on young prospects with good potential on 1M/10 year deals. In a few years, they would have star players making pennies on the dollar, and they would have an unfair budget advantage. Free agency is not intended for loading up your farm system. This period is for veterans looking for new deals, which most would make way more than 5M anyway.

5. Please pay very close attention to your team budget. Obviously, you are not allowed to go over the budget. When making offers, you should be able to afford ALL contracts you are currently offering, assuming they sign. If you want to make an offer, but don’t have the budget space, make a trade BEFORE making the offer. Disclaimer: At the commissioner’s discretion, we may choose to enforce punishment for those who go over their budget, including a loss of draft pick, voiding of a contract, or fine.

6. If the player was on your team before entering free agency, you have the ability to match any offer, and be considered the top offer.

Hopefully this makes sense, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me! Thanks, and enjoy!
